August 5

BIBLE MEDITATION: ?Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.? Romans 6:11

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: We are to ?reckon? ourselves dead to sin, but alive to Jesus Christ. What does that mean? In the south when someone says, ?I reckon so,? that means they think so. But that?s not what this word means. ?Reckon? is a legal term that means ?to count upon? or ?calculate.? When you repented of your sin and asked God to save you, you reckoned upon what Jesus did on the cross to atone for your sins. And now, you depend upon His righteousness. Just as you reckon upon Him for victory over the penalty of sin, you also reckon upon Him for victory over the power of sin. Count on it! Reckon yourself to be dead unto sin and alive unto God!

ACTION POINT: Do you want to walk in victory today? Then repeat the following all day long: ?I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.? Die to self and live for Christ.
