August 4

BIBLE MEDITATION: ?Blessed is the man that heareth Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the posts of My doors.? Proverbs 8:34

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. We twiddle our thumbs. We watch the clock. Is this what God means for us to do when He tells us to wait on Him? Sometimes, but not always. When you sit down in a restaurant and someone approaches your table to take your order, what do you call this person? A waiter. Does that mean he spends his time doing nothing? Not if he wants a job! He is to be busy serving you. In the same way, we are to be busy in our waiting upon the Lord. Waiting on God involves longing for the Lord, listening to the Lord, looking to Him, and living for Him. If you do this type of waiting, you will receive His power, provision, and peace.

ACTION POINT: Perhaps you have asked God to bring you a spouse or a child and years have gone by without an answer. Maybe you are simply waiting in the airport for your flight. How are you redeeming your time? Ask God to tell you what He wants you to do right now for His glory.
